Wintershall Dea do Brasil Exploration and Production Ltda. is the eighth company registered for the 17th Bidding Round for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas, scheduled for October. 92 blocks with exploratory risk will be offered, with a total area of 53,93 thousand km², located in 11 sectors with high potential and new frontiers in four Brazilian maritime sedimentary basins: Campos, Pelotas, Potiguar and Santos.
Wintershall’s registration was approved, at a meeting of the Special Tender Commission (CEL), and published today in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU). In previous meetings, Petrobras, Chevron Brasil Óleo e Gás Ltda., Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda., Total Energies EP Brasil Ltda., Ecopetrol Óleo e Gás do Brasil Ltda., Murphy Exploration & Production Company and Karoon Petróleo e Gás Ltda were approved. The number of applicants may increase, as another CEL meeting is scheduled to address the issue.
The registered companies met all the requirements set out in the notice and are eligible to participate in the round. Registration is mandatory and individual for each interested party, even for those who intend to present an offer through a consortium. Once the requirements established in the notice have been complied with, and the registration has been judged and approved by CEL, the company may present offers only for blocks located in the sectors for which it has paid a participation fee and provided a guarantee for the offer.
The qualification process of companies (operator A, B or non-operator) will only be carried out for the winning companies on the day of the public session for the submission of bids, a procedure adopted since the 13th Round.
