June Newsletter

Was a wild ride this past month, WTI went negative for the first time in history due to oversupply and storage capacity and the list goes on. We are still reeling from the COVID 19 pandemic and much of the world is still closed for international business. We look forward to better weeks in the coming months for the industry as well as some much needed peace in other parts of our world.

Rig Lynx Monthly Rundown – Top 5 for May

Market

Been a rough month for active rigs as COVID-19 swept through the industry hitting all areas that were operating forcing clients to early terminate, teams pulling long hitches offshore and some families dealing with COVID-19 back at home on their own with their loved ones away. Much of the world is still on lockdown, but we don’t expect the rig activity to start moving for many months. We were still recovering from 2016 and hadn’t fully reached the peak when in came COVID and an oil price war, basically the perfect storm for the industry.

We see some countries starting to loosen travel restrictions a bit, such as Singapore where you are now allowed to transit through but what we hope to see are rigs getting back to work… as the airlines start to fire back up and people start moving, so will the energy use. This will be the demand increase to get thing moving again, we don’t expect it to be the same as before but it’s hard to tell what the new normal will look like at this moment to be honest. As of writing this WTI is at XX and Brent is at XX, the active Rig Count took a beating this month… we won’t mention how many rigs went to stack or idle status this past month, but we will update everyone when Baker publishes the International Rig Count in the coming days.

We have had a great month!

We rolled out the new Job Foundry, we sent you all emails about this for the largest part early on. If you are a recruiter wanting to find candidates, get in there, create the jobs and start taking applicants, that’s pretty simple. There are many positives about using the Job Foundry, the largest one is that it is a dynamic process, it works for both the candidate and the recruiter and there are support tools for both users available for you to download today. Best part, it is free, make sure to go download your guides, the links are right here if you need them”

ASEAN SHIPCARE, taking the hard work out of preserving your assets

Laying-up ships makes good business sense during tough times. Not only does it allow ship owners and operators to avoid non-profitable journeys and over supply, it also reduces wear and tear, crew costs, fuel consumption and insurance premiums during the idle period.

The ASEAN SHIPCARE brand is owned by MEKUR TEGUH SDN BHD, a private limited company formed in September 2011. They place customer satisfaction as their highest priority and they aim to provide the highest quality layup services, STS (ship-to-ship) Operations, Shipcare and Marine Services

ASC prepares these guidelines for customers that opt to layup their vessels – whether it be for shorter or longer periods – and to provide a clear overview of the layup methods and services available.
