Petrobras has received a deposit of R $ 360 million (US $ 65 million) in the last few days due to the leniency agreement of Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). The amount is the first installment disbursed by the Korean company, which will make a total payment of R $ 705.9 million in reimbursement to the Brazilian oil company.

SHI's leniency agreement was signed last week, due to corruption and money laundering practices perpetrated by the company and revealed within the scope of Lava Jato in Paraná. In addition to the payment of fines and reimbursements, the Asian company has also committed to updating and perfecting its governance and compliance policies to return to doing business in Brazil.

Altogether, Petrobras has already received more than R $ 5.3 billion in reimbursements as a result of collaboration, leniency and repatriation agreements. In 2020, the company received R $ 797 million in reimbursement of amounts related to Operation Lava Jato.
