The international rig count for January is 841, up 7 units from the count in December and up 197 units from the 677 counted in January 2021.

Latin America remains unchanged at a total of 158 units the December count.

The Asia-Pacific region is up 4 units to a total of 197 and is up 35 units from its year-ago average of 162.

Africa is down 1 unit to a total of 86 from the December count of 87 units and up 35 units from its January 2021 average of 51.

Europe is down 3 units to a total of 111 from the December count of 114 units, and up 17 units year-over-year.

The Middle East is up 7 units to a total of 289 from the December count of 282 units, and up 38 units year-over-year.
