The Deepsea Stavanger has finalized its assignment with Total in South Africa and has started its journey back to Norway.
The rig spent 8 months, went into dry dock and then mobilized from Norway to South Africa.
Odfjell was able to establish the first ever direct flight from Bergen to Cape Town in order to secure a safe corridor for their employees.
Stein Nielsen Rig Manager said “In a time when most people have been “stuck in home office” the team has performed operations in one of the harshest environments in the world, in what for us Norwegians is on the other side of the world. Once again, the task has been solved spotless - All of this done during a world pandemic. So proud to be a part of this team!”
The Deepsea Stavanger is a sixth generation deepwater and harsh environment semi-submersible. This unit, along with its sister rig Deepsea Atlantic and Deepsea Aberdeen, is a state-of-the-art dual derrick, dynamic-positioned unit of enhanced GVA 7500 design.
