Only a small amount of information on Dolphin Drilling Ltd. website but Dolphin Drilling Ltd, a subsidiary of Dolphin Drilling ASA, has entered into a LOI with i3 Energy for a three-well appraisal and development drilling program in the UK North Sea, using the semi-submersible drilling rig Blackford Dolphin or Borgland Dolphin. The program is scheduled to commence June 2019, and is estimated to 94 days.
- Blackford Dolphin is a Aker H3 design that went into service in 1974 and had its last major upgrade in 2007 allowing it to operate in 7,000′ of water.
- Borgland Dolphin is a Aker H3 design that went into service in 1977 and had its last major upgrade in 1999 allowing it to operate in 1,500′ of water.
According to Dolphin’s website, all of Dolphin’s rigs are subject to what is called “Smart Stackingâ€, this is a process that Dolphin worked closely with DNV GL to manage and facilitate for fast reactivation of stacked assets. A video showing this process is here.
