ExxonMobil will start a new exploration campaign on the Brazilian coast. The company received the endorsement from Ibama (Brazilian Environmental Institute) to drill wells in blocks BM-C-753, BM-C-789, BM-S-536, BM-S-647 and Titã, located in the Campos basins and Santos. The license granted by the environmental agency will last for four years.
With the authorization in hand, ExxonMobil will be able to drill up to six exploratory wells, two of which are firm (one in the CM-789 block and the other in Titan) and four more contingents. To carry out the activities, the company hired the drill ship West Saturn. According to Ibama, there is also the possibility of conducting a short training test.
According to information provided by ExxonMobil, the value of the investment planned in the offshore drilling of the blocks can reach R $ 7 billion. The total area of ??the blocks is approximately 3,234 km², with bathymetric levels between 2,600 meters and 3,100 meters, of water depth
