Rig Lynx Monthly Rundown – Top 5 for February
Market
WTI is sitting at $66.26 at the time of writing this, it is up over $8.00 from where it was from our last newsletter on Feb 9th. As of recent the OPEC + has held strong on their decision to not put any additional production onto the market. This created a jump in WTI of almost 4% and Brent which is sitting at $69.55, of almost 3% within just a short period of time.
As many have pointed out earlier this year that a $65 range mid-year was coming, looks as if it was here quicker than they anticipated.
All eyes are on West Texas and the Middle East at this point as they are both showing resilience to keep from creating a similar scenario to last year with a devastating price war.
Just FYI OPEC meets again on April 1, so by the time our next newsletter comes out we will know if they are going to hold strong and keep that additional 7 million barrels per day off the market that they claim is voluntary.
North America Rig Count was 573 on February 12th, today it is 544, that is a 29 unit drop since our last newsletter. The U.S. rig count has been steadily climbing for the last 13 weeks as the Canada rig count seems to be spontaneous, just this last week they dropped 22 units after gaining 44 units on Jan 15th.
The International Rig Count was 677 on February 5th, today it is 701, we are up 24 units worldwide.
