Odfjell Drilling’s business in Norway is growing as two new semi-submersibles are joining the fleet in 2019. In the next months, we will employ more than 200 operational personnel, engineers and administrative support personnel to support our growing North Sea activities.

With the delivery of Deepsea Nordkapp on 7 January this year and the Management agreement entered into with CIMC Raffles for Beacon Atlantic on 19 March, we will mobilize two new 6 th generation semisubmersibles for drilling operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf this year.

Deepsea Nordkapp is in transit from Samsung in Korea to the North Sea and is expected to arrive at CCB, Ã…gotnes around April 8 for a three week yard stay to start operations for Aker BP in Q2 this year. Beacon Atlantic is currently completing final commissioning and sea trials at CIMC Raffles yard in Yantai. The unit is planned to leave the yard in early June and arrive in Norway 3 months later. Drilling operations for Neptune Energy Norway will commence in Q4, 2019.

Deepsea Nordkapp is a 6th generation dynamically positioned harsh environment and winterized semi-submersible or Moss enhanced CS 60E design. The unit is developed for DP operations in ultra-deep water (up to 2,000 meters on DP and 950 meters in moored position) and harsh environment with requirement for dual activity and high capacity drilling systems. It is equipped with a Dual Active Heave DW. Some additional upgrades will take place at CCB prior to commence drilling for Aker BP for its 2 + 2 year contract shortly.

Beacon Atlantic is optimized for the mid-water segment and is upon delivery able to operate at water depth up to 500 meters and drill wells down to 8500 meters. If required, it may be upgraded to operate in water depths up to 1200 meters. It is equipped with NOV drilling package, DP3 and 8-point mooring system. The rig is designed to operate in the harsh North Sea environment and is winterized for other challenging regions such as the Arctic and the Barents Sea. The unit is further designed for efficient operations with offline capability and active heave compensation system. Drilling operations for the 6 + 10 well drilling program with Neptune Energy Norway will commence in Q4 this year.

Following these mobilizations, Odfjell Drilling will operate five semisubmersibles offshore Norway in 2019; Deepsea Bergen, Deepsea Atlantic, Deepsea Stavanger, Deepsea Nordkapp and Beacon Atlantic. The company also has Deepsea Aberdeen in operation on the UKCS plus platform drilling on 14 installations in Norway and UK. Our sixth generation harsh environment units have proven to be the most efficient and technologically advanced rigs in the market today and we will recruit personnel to all our MODU units the next months.

All vacancies will be announced on the web page www.odfjelldrilling.com

With 2 new buildings en route to the Norwegian shelf, Odfjell Drilling needs more than 200 new employees during the summer

Odfjell Drilling’s operations in Norway are growing as the rig fleet expands with two completely new platforms in 2019. In the next few months we will employ more than 200 people within drilling, maritime and technical operations in addition to administrative personnel to support the growing activity in the North Sea.

With the takeover of Deepsea Nordkapp on January 7 this year and the establishment of the management agreement with CIMC Raffles for Beacon Atlantic on March 19, the company will in the current year mobilize two newly built drilling platforms for operations on the Norwegian shelf.

Deepsea Nordkapp is in transit from Samsung in Korea to the North Sea, and is expected to arrive at CCB, Ågotnes around April 8 for three weeks’ workshop stay before the start of Aker BP in the second quarter this year. Beacon Atlantic is currently at CIMC Raffles yard in Yantai, China, and for final testing and sea trials. The platform is scheduled to leave the yard in early June and arrive in Norway 3 months later. Drilling operations for Neptun Energy Norway start in Q4 2019.

Deepsea Nordkappis a 6th generation “harsh environment”, winterized DP rig of a further developed Moss CS 60 design. The rig is designed for DP operations in ultra deep water (up to 2000 meters in DP mode and 950 meters in anchored position) in harsh environments where dual operations and robust high capacity drilling systems are required. It is equipped with “Dual Active Heave DW”. During the stay at CCB, there will be some further upgrades before the start of Aker BP on a 2 + 2 year contract.

Beacon Atlantic is optimized for the mid-water segment and is equipped for water depth operations up to 500 meters and can drill wells down to 8500 meters. It can be upgraded for water depths up to 1200 meters. The platform is equipped with NOV drilling package, DP3 and 8-point anchor system. The rig is designed to operate in the harsh North Sea environment and in addition wintered for the Arctic and the Barents Sea. The platform is also designed for efficient operation with offline functions and with active HIV compensator. Drilling operations for Neptune Energy Norway with 6 fixed and 10 option wells will start in the fourth quarter of this year.

Semisub rig owner Dolphin Drilling has inked a new contract with Peak Petroleum in Nigeria for its 1974-built Blackford Dolphin.   The firm contract, which follows the letter of award in January, gives the Euronext Growth-listed owner of three rigs the potential to extend the unit’s backlog by a minimum of 120 days and up to 485 days. The deal adds to and will be a direct continuation of the previously announced 12-month contract with General Hydrocarbon Limited (GHL).   Øystein Stray Spetalen-backed company said the effective dayrate associated with the minimum firm period of the contract is $325,000, including the mobilisation fee.   “The final award of the contract for Blackford Dolphin shows the opportunities in Nigeria at a strong dayrate, in addition to building on the backlog for the rig. It also underlines the attractiveness of our assets, and we look forward to returning to revenue-generating operations in 2023,” noted Bjørnar Iversen, CEO of Dolphin Drilling.   Source: Dolphin   Join our mailing list here We are #1 on Google and Bing for the "Largest Mobile Energy Network" Come join our community!
