
For the second quarter of 2021, Odfjell Drilling reported operating revenue of $233 million, compared with $167 million in Q2 2020. The company reported a net profit of $27 million, compared with a loss of $6 million in the same period a year earlier.
EBITDA was $85 million, up from the $81 million reported in Q2 2020.
The company said the group's contract backlog is $2.4 billion, whereof $1.4 billion is firm backlog. Meanwhile, the driller said that it has multiple ongoing "zero emission drilling" projects on all rigs and that so far work undertaken has "exceeded initial expectations".
A full scale flywheel/battery hybrid solution was installed on the first unit, Deepsea Atlantic, and is undergoing final testing. Similar systems will be implemented on all Odfjell Rigs in the coming years.
