
As the first week of September opens up and we start heading out of summer, we have our first week wrap up, here are your top posts for week 36.

Powder River Basin seems to be leading the pack at the moment, with all the congestion, uncertainty of the Permian’s future and transport of product that is currently happening, no reason why this little hot-spot in Wyoming is starting to heat up, plenty of room for growth and they have laid some ground plans to kick things off.

Powder River Basin heating up with over $17 billion of revenue on the burner
As the crude powerhouse that is Texas’ Permian Basin becomes old news, oil explorers are looking for the next big thing–and they have found it in the more-than 4000 feet of stacked pay in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. Shell idle’s the Don Taylor in the GOM for $420k a day for the next 181 days
Oil major Shell has decided to idle one of Noble Corporation’s drillships operating for the company in the Gulf of Mexico.
Noble informed in its fleet status report on Tuesday that Shell had exercised a contractual right to idle the 2013-built drillship Noble Don Taylor for the remainder of its contract, or 183 days ending February 25, 2019. (story continues here)

Transocean purchases Ocean Rig for $2.7 Billion
STEINHAUSEN, Switzerland and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Sept. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Transocean Ltd.(“Transocean†or the “Companyâ€) (NYSE: RIG) and Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (“Ocean Rigâ€) (NASDAQ: ORIG) announced today that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Transocean will acquire Ocean Rig in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $2.7 billion, inclusive of Ocean Rig’s net debt. (story continues here)

New 600-mile Permian pipeline system to HoustonÂ

Pipeline giants Energy Transfer Partners, Magellan Midstream Partners and others are teaming up on a new, 600-mile Permian pipeline system to Houston.
Dallas-based Energy Transfer and Oklahoma’s Magellan said they’ve partnered with Israel’s Delek Group and Ohio-based MPLX, which is the pipeline arm of Marathon Petroleum, to fund the construction of the multibillion-dollar pipeline project. They said they have enough customer support to move forward. (story continues here)
