Since December, Petrobrás had been receiving bid proposals for the chartering of drill rigs for water depths up to 700 meters. But, after a few postponements, the company decided to cancel the tender, leaving a the companies that worked in the bids and invested funds to prepare the proposals frustrated and at a loss. Companies that have been mobilized for more than seven months.
As a reminder, the bidding started in December and, until the second half of January, all proposals were submitted. With the tight deadline, the company had been postponing. But it had confirmed the final date for the submission of proposals for the end of this month, on the 30th. The participating companies received a formal statement from the company canceling the bid, without any explanation or justification.
The rigs would start operating at the end of the year, valid for 3 years and 7 months, but with the possibility of extending for at least another year. The option for pre-salt and the sale shallow water wells may have been the driver for the cancellation, but it was not formally announced.
