Petrobras will invest US$ 5.5 billion in the Exploration segment in the five-year period 2022-2026, maintaining its focus on the Southeastern basins and on the Equatorial Margin. The figure represents only 10% of the total amount allocated to the E&P area of US$ 57.3 billion.
Petrobras plans to drill 70 exploratory wells over the next five years. Around 58% of the oil company’s exploratory investments will be directed to the Santos and Campos basins, while the other 38% will be allocated to the Equatorial Margin.
The investment allocated to Exploration for the period 2022-2026 is lower than that foreseen in the Strategic Plan 2021-2025. In the previous Plan, the budget totaled US$ 6.51 billion.
The campaign in the Equatorial Margin is scheduled to start in the second half of 2022.
Petrobras expects to drill up to 17 wells in the region, where it has 16 exploratory assets.
The details of E&P investments were presented by director Fernando Borges to investors. The executive stated that the oil company has 79 exploratory assets in its portfolio.
Petrobras is betting that exploratory work on the Equatorial Margin can confirm a new oil region. Once again, Fernando Borges highlighted the results already achieved in similar prospects in Guyana and Suriname.
“We have reservoir rocks which are very similar, and we believe and have great potential for success in the exploration of our Equatorial Margin, which we are finally going to start”, says Borges.
