Dubai, January 23, 2019 – Shelf Drilling, Ltd. (“Shelf Drilling†or the “Companyâ€, OSE: SHLF) announced today that it has received an award for a three-year contract for the Ron Tappmeyer jack-up rig with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for operations in the Mumbai High, offshore India. The planned start-up of operations is Q2 2019.
Press release here
The Ron Tappmeyer is a 1978 LeTourneau model 116C that is capable of drilling in 300′ of water. According to our friends over at Bassoe Analytics the rig is valued under 2.3 million. With a dayrate advertised of 27k USD per day and with operating costs out of it, the contract is worth more than 6 times what the rig is actually valued at, sounds like a win for Shelf in our opinion.
Prior to this announcement and according to Shelf’s last fleet update status, dating November 2018 , it was in the ready stacked condition in India.
