The president of the oil company in Brazil, André Araújo, participated in a conversation with journalists and revealed that the company hired the rig West Tellus, which will start an exploratory campaign from the second semester in the Campos Basin. The works will be carried out in Parque das Conchas (BC-10) and also in block C-M-791 (won in the 15th Bidding Round).

"We expect that 75% of our proven reserves will be produced by 2030. And we should have only 3% of them in 2040," Araújo said.

“So there is a prospect of having our proven reserves reduced, which means that we need to replace them because we understand that the world will continue to demand oil and gas, and Shell will be present in this market.”

Natural gas “is one of the pillars in the energy transition. There will still be a growing demand for natural gas in the world,” Araújo told the press conference.

“We have a great local priority, which is the monetization of domestic gas, particularly from Marlim Azul thermoelectric plant [in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro state], and possible new projects. We have around 800 people working on the Marlim Azul construction. It is a project that will bring energy to 2mn homes in the country.”
