2018 was shaping up to be the best year out of the last few for operators and contractors alike. Although the deepwater sector of the industry still remains severely depressed, rates for these technological marvels are in the doldrums and still see no future of making any advancements based on current market conditions. The Permian basin is still red-hot and forecasts to continue the pace for the future. Work offshore Guyana is one of the more heavily focused areas in the world at the moment, seems every time Exxon drills a well they find another considerable resource to add to the backlog all of this while Canada is struggling to get the choke cleared and OPEC tries to balance what is left of their market share. Many partnerships have been made and a few more bankruptcies have been filed and a few more companies have come out with better debt leverage and a renewed outlook on operations.
