Transocean announces Asgard layoffs in GOM

Transocean has announced that it will layoff up to 100 people on the Deepwater Asgard as reported to the Texas Workforce Commission as the rig contract comes to a close.

The Deepwater Asgard is a 6th generation deepwater drillship that was built in 2014 and under contract with Beacon Offshore according to the fleet status report published on October 14th at an estimated dayrate of $240,00 USD.

This is the 2nd round of layoffs in the GOM for Transocean as the Discoverer Inspiration, another 6th generation deepwater drillship, was down manned an estimated 110 people back in July.
