Ventura (Petroserv) will secure two new charter contracts with Petrobras in January. The oil company decided to hire the semi-submersible Victoria and the drillship Carolina, offered in the tender for 2,400 m.
The rig company won the batch B bidding process, aimed at chartering units without MPD. The rates presented by Ventura were around US$ 200 thousand/day.
The signing of contracts should take place in the first half of January.
Victoria and Carolina will be chartered for a period of 1,040 days, operating along the coast, with no specific lease. The new contracts will start in December 2022.
Both Victoria and Carolina are under contract with Petrobras until August 2022. After the end of the charter, the two units will undergo adaptation works at a shipyard in Brazil to meet the new contractual requirements of the oil company.
Among the adjustments that will have to be carried out in the two rigs are changes in the BOP and telecommunications systems.
China Union offered the lowest price on lot B, but was disqualified by the bidding committee. In addition to Victoria and Carolina, Petrobras also hired Seadrill’s drillship West Jupiter, which will operate dedicated to Buzios, in the same process.
The tender was launched by Petrobras at the end of February.
