Rig Lynx Monthly Rundown – Top 5 for SeptemberMarket
WTI is sitting at 36.70 at the time of writing this, it took a pretty good drop this past Thursday due to market sentiment in regard to OPEC specifically. September OPEC exports rose almost 1 million bpd, suspects are Iran and Libya as they are exempt from the production thresholds. But with the ongoing pandemic the demand is hard to forecast, and companies are reacting to 3rd quarter losses by another wave of layoffs. The market is talking about a having access to a vaccine would stabilize the market but in the short-term demand is still hard to predict.
North America Rig Count was 308 on September 28th, today it is 332. The International Rig Count was 743 in Sep 8th, Baker Hughes announced it will start releasing the updated International Rig Count on the last working day of the first week of every month, current update will not be available until October 2nd.
This past month there was a 24 unit jump for North America, good sign of some work returning as the market slowly recovers.
