Seadrill line up 5 rigs for scrapping
Seadrill is to scrap five of its stacked rigs, including four semisubs and one drillship. It is understood that the units will all be sent to the Rota shipyard in Turkey where they will be recycled. The units to be retired include the 1986-built semisub West Alpha, 2008-built semisub West Eminence, 2000-built semisub West Venture, 2011-built semisub West Pegasus and the 2000-built drillship West Navigator.
Seadrill lands 18 month contract for the West Neptune in the GOM
LLOG has secured the ultra-deepwater drillship West Neptune for an 18-month drilling campaign in the US Gulf of Mexico. The contract is believed to begin in Q4 2021 and includes the drilling of 6 wells and includes three 1-well options thereafter.
Seadrill sells the West Freedom for $5 million
Court documents show that Seadrill has sold its 2009-built jackup West Freedom to New Fortress Energy for $5 million for conversion for its LNG project. The rig has not worked in several years and is currently stacked in Colombia.
Seadrill sells West Vigilant to PT Duta Marine
The jack-up rig West Vigilant (2008) is now being sold to PT Duta Marine in Indonesia. The sale price is $7.3 million, according to Texas bankruptcy court documents. Fearnleys receives a brokerage fee of 3.5 percent after the sale.
Equinor and ExxonMobil proceed with $8 billion Brazilian field development
Equinor, ExxonMobil and Petrogal Brasil said on Tuesday they would proceed with an $8 billion development of Brazil's Bacalhau oil discovery. First oil from the field, which will be operated by Norway's Equinor, is expected in 2024, with output set to reach 220,000 barrels per day, the companies said in a joint statement.
