The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Lundin Energy Norway a drilling permit for wildcat well 6306/9-1 in production license PL 886.

Well 6306/9-1 will be drilled from the Deepsea Stavanger drilling facility in position 63°22'34.30"N and 06°45'30.53"E.

Lundin Energy Norway is the operator with an ownership interest of 60 per cent. The other licensees are Spirit Energy Norway (20 per cent) and Petoro (20 per cent). The area in this license consists of parts of blocks 6306/6, 6306/8 and 6306/9. The well will be drilled around 72 kms east of the Ormen Lange field.

Production license 886 was awarded on 10 February 2017 (APA 2016). This is the first exploration well to be drilled in the license.

The permit is contingent on the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
