Read More   Rig Lynx Monthly Rundown - Top 5 for February     Market WTI is sitting at $66.26 at the time of writing this, it is up over $8.00 from where it was from our last newsletter on Feb 9th. As of recent the OPEC + has held strong on their decision to not put any additional production onto the market. This created a jump in WTI of almost 4% and Brent which is sitting at $69.55, of almost 3% within just a short period of time.   As many have pointed out earlier this year that a $65 range mid-year was coming, looks as if it was here quicker than they anticipated.   All eyes are on West Texas and the Middle East at this point as they are both showing resilience to keep from creating a similar scenario to last year with a devastating price war.     Just FYI OPEC meets again on April 1, so by the time our next newsletter comes out we will know if they are going to hold strong and keep that additional 7 million barrels per day off the market that they claim is voluntary.   North America Rig Count was 573 on February 12th, today it is 544, that is a 29 unit drop since our last newsletter. The U.S. rig count has been steadily climbing for the last 13 weeks as the Canada rig count seems to be spontaneous, just this last week they dropped 22 units after gaining 44 units on Jan 15th.   The International Rig Count was 677 on February 5th, today it is 701, we are up 24 units worldwide.       Rig Lynx Community We added 25 new members since our last newsletter which brings our current member base up to 4,309 oil and gas professionals, we also added 100 new newsletter subscribers!   This is all due to you sharing the app with your friends and coworkers each day. But the WTI is up $7.00 from where it was from our last newsletter on Dec 3rd. The ongoing rhetoric with the U.S. elections, and from our last newsletter until now there have been two OPEC+ meetings, one was late December, and one was early January. The one late December they decided to ramp up production 1.9 million barrels and in early January Saudi Arabia took a voluntary cut of 1 million barrels a day.   North America Rig Count was 425 on December 4th, today it is 534, that is a 109 unit jump since our last newsletter. Most of this increase has been in Canada for the most part, we hope that everyone gets back to work but these companies show some production restraint during these times that OPEC+ are slowing production, we DO NOT want to have another production war in the middle of a pandemic.   The International Rig Count was 669 on December 11th, today it is 665, we are down 4 units worldwide.     Rig Lynx Community   We added 59 new members since our last newsletter which brings our current member base up to 4,220 oil and gas professionals, we also added 130 new newsletter subscribers!   This is all due to you sharing the app with your friends and coworkers each day. This past month with the elections and now the Covid 19 vaccine introduction is driving a lot of speculation in the market, the price is holding steady, but we are on the heels of a possible 1.9-million-barrel output increase from OPEC+.   We feel that there will not be an increase, but time will tell, seems there is some trouble in the water between the Saudis and the UAE. We are sure that will be resolved but larger part of this question is, can the market take it? Not so sure about that one…   North America Rig Count was 382 on November 2nd, today it is 422, that is a 40 unit jump since our last newsletter. We have been asked is that a good thing recently, two sides to think about here, for the people needing jobs, it’s a good thing, for the market we are not sure, time will tell. Lot of activity and plans going into place for a recover.   The International Rig Count was 656 on November 2nd, we are down 46 units worldwide since the October 2nd count of 702. In August of 2017 I picked up the mobile phone, opened up LinkedIn and started scrolling through the newsfeed. We were still in the middle of one the worst downturns we had been through in my 26 years, of course this was pre-covid, little did we know.   As I scrolled through the newsfeed, I saw multiple job posts from recruiting companies, major oil and gas companies and even some smaller networks all advertising jobs. I thought, how could this be? It has been a roller coaster this past month, but with the U.S. elections underway it basically looks suspended around this area for the short term after it took an initial drop Thursday morning waiting on election results. With the second wave of Covid making its appearance has basically depressed any price lift. Although market sentiment has it turning the corner next year as OPEC + are discussing extending current cuts and possibly expanding them.      North America Rig Count was 341 on October 2nd, today it is 382, that is a 41 unit jump since our last newsletter, the best movement we have seen since May of 2018.   The International Rig Count was 702 on October 2nd, we are down 45 units worldwide since the September count of 747. Baker Hughes announced it will start releasing the updated International Rig Count on the last working day of the first week of every month, current update will not be available until Friday November 5th.     Rig Lynx Community   We have added 133 new members since our last newsletter which brings our current member base up to 4,092 oil and gas professionals, we also added 200 new newsletter subscribers!   This is all due to you sharing the app with your friends and coworkers each day.
