News in exploratory activity in the Campos Basin. Petrobras started drilling the first well in block C-M-411 this week. The operation is being carried out with the West Tellus drillship, in a water depth of 2,953 meters. The pioneer well was named after the technical name 1-BRSA-1377-RJS.
As a reminder, block CM-411 was purchased by Petrobras during the 14th Bidding Round, held in 2017. The state-owned company is the operator of the area, with a 50% stake, in partnership with the American ExxonMobil, which owns the remaining 50% .
At the time, the oil companies spent R$1.2 billion to acquire the area. The block is in the so-called SC-AP3 sector, in the Campos Basin. In June of that year, Ibama authorized the exploratory campaign in block C-M-411 and in five other areas that make up the sector.
According to the authorization issued by the environmental agency, of the seven wells that will be drilled in the sector, three will be firm, with a forecast for carrying out a Reservoir Formation Test, depending on the result of each one.
