After the 48 years of jackup backlog added in December, another 33 years were added in January. Most of the new backlog comes from long-term contracts in the Middle East, with the two newbuild Super 116Es ordered by ARO Drilling getting eight years each with Saudi Aramco.
Dayrates and utilization have stabilized on the back of the strong upward trend over the past few months, and we expect a stable to gradually increasing trend for the first half of the year.
According to market sources, three jackups were sold for recycling since our last report: Nabors 240; Sagadril 1; and Valaris JU-68.
