This week’s top of the list is Ensco’s hiring events taking place in Mississippi and Louisiana, it had over 22k views so far this week, followed up behind that with Rowan’s drillship the “Reliance†tags on a 1 year contract with Fieldwood, those contracts are hard to come by these days, of course no dayrate advertised but still a good thing. Some smaller players are starting to emerge in the O & G game with some aggressive purchases and staking ground ready for the future, the Petrobras throws the brakes on Chevrons drilling plans in Brazil and last but not least, Canada is turning to trucks to do most of the hauling with all the pipeline chokes happening.

On their LinkedIn page yesterday, drilling company Ensco announced two job fairs taking place, one in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on November the 7th and the other in Alexandria, Louisiana. (more here)

HOUSTON, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Rowan Companies plc (“Rowan†or the “Companyâ€) (NYSE: RDC) announced today that the Rowan Reliance, an R-Class ultra-deepwater drillship, has been awarded a contract in the United StatesGulf of Mexico by Fieldwood Energy LLC with a firm term of one year plus three 90-day options at then market rates. The contract is expected to commence the first quarter of 2019. The Rowan Reliance is currently warm stacked offshore Louisiana in the US Gulf of Mexico. For a decade or so, the giant international oil companies have had it easy.
Of course, they have had to contend with volatile oil and gas prices, soaring costs on mega projects, unimpressed equity investors, rapacious governments, capricious geology, hostile environmentalists and all the usual paraphernalia of the business. But they faced at least relatively little competition from outside their magic circle. Now, with a new breed of start-up companies, that may change. (more here)

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – A decision by Petrobras not to invest in drilling new wells has derailed Chevron Corp’s plan to resume exploration in a Brazilian offshore field, people familiar with the matter said.
Chevron, which operates the field with a 52 percent stake, approved the drilling plan but Petrobras, which holds a 30 percent stake nixed the move, according to two people close to the talks. (more here)

The highways of Saskatchewan show just how desperate Canadian oil producers are to get their crude to market.
Tanker trucks laden with oil are journeying almost 500 miles (800 kilometers) to pipeline and rail terminals. It’s a phenomenon that Ken Boettcher, president of Three Star Trucking Ltd. in Alida, Saskatchewan, started to see three or four months ago when oil shippers around Kindersley, near the Alberta border, began requesting trucks to move their crude, in some cases, as far south as North Dakota.
