Shell starts, by the end of April, drilling its first well on Saturno, a block acquired in the 5th Production Sharing Round, in 2018. The information was confirmed by the company to PetróleoHoje.
According to the activity characterization form, submitted to Ibama in 2018, the active drilling project foresees up to five wells (one firm and four contingents) and up to two formation tests.
The original schedule foresaw the start of works in January 2020, lasting 120 days.
Located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, the area to be drilled is located about 200 km from Arraial do Cabo (RJ), in water depths varying between 2,740 thousand m and 2,190 thousand m.
The drilling will be carried out by the Constellation drill ship Brava Star, which is finalizing the Gato do Mato campaign, also in the Santos pre-salt.
As for the 3D seismic campaign on Saturno, the Anglo-Dutch oil company reiterated that the activity is still scheduled for July 2021.
Shell is the operator of the block, with a 45% stake, in a consortium with Chevron (45%) and Ecopetrol (10%).
